Southbank Centre's rooftops and terraces will serve as a futuristic urban backdrop to a world where people run up walls, skim across sharp edges and defy the laws of physics and physicality in this large-scale outdoor extravaganza that weaves together dance, physical theatre, parkour, abseiling, aerial circus and singing. A Southbank Centre commission, 'Off The Wall' features a cast of more than 100 performers. It's choreographed and directed by Southbank Centre resident artists Liam Steel and Rob Tannion, founders of Stan Won't Dance. They're collaborating with designer Michael Pavelka and an international ensemble of circus artists, dancers and free runners, including internationally renowned Canadian parkour artist, Troy Feldman. In addition to professional dancers and performers, the cast also features final-year degree students from Circus Space and graduate performers from Laban. Also performing are students of Forest Hill Boys School and Sydenham Girls Schools, last seen at Southbank Centre as the choir for the Stephen Petronio / Rufus Wainwright collaboration, 'Bloom', in October 2006.
