My Fourth Violin

both

I decided to get another violin.
This one came from the estate of Henry J. Dennis
of Sheridan, WY. He played, made and repaired violins
there, but didn't make this one said his daughter - who
sold me the instrument.

No maker's label, just a repair notice by Mr. Dennis from
1970. He died about 1974. It's fairly old, with German accessories.

Professional violin players in Denver have told me it's a concert
instrument suitable for a soloist in performance.

Since these photos were taken a few scratches in the varnish,
and a slight separation of the top have been repaired.

It weighs 14.5oz; length 14.065"; upper bout 6.675";
middle bout 4.5"; lower bout 8.25"; fingerboard 10.75"; and nut
to bridge 13.25". It has an unusual, finely-carved scroll in the
style of Maggini.
