Dutch Officials 41 5. Ryland & Louella Poyner 39 1/2 6. Aural Retentives 37 The most common mistake people made to lose a half point was not giving the entire title for "Take Me Home Country Roads," "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree," and "Killing Me Softly with Her Song." Remember, the correct answer must be a substring of the entry. So "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" is acceptable for "White Christmas," but "What the World Needs Now" is NOT ACCEPTABLE for "What the World Needs Now Is Love." Even so, I gave full credit for "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree." (Hey, I'm not a monster.) But one of the leaders' entry of "Sunshine on My Shoulder" was rejected for want of an s. Also, a reminder that I have never asked for artists in any of my contests. I don't believe that most pop songs can be associated with a single artist. Some people volunteered them, and it seems there are a lot of misconceptions floating around. It was Liza Minnelli, not Frank Sinatra, who introduced "New York, New York," and Andy Williams did not introduce "The Summer Knows." There was even one response claiming Telly Savalas has introduced "If." And most sadly, many people seem to be unaware that George Benson had a fabulous recording of "The Greatest Love of All" in 1977, years before Whitney Houston came out with her mediocre recording. The next quiz is being released tonight. For more information, or to be added to the mailing list for these quizzes, see my home page: http://www.nyx.net/~thill 1. I sold my soul.
