I was never *that* close to Dr. Johnson--for instance, I always called him "Dr. Johnson," never "Roy"--but I was blessed with his acquaintance for about fifteen years, both when I worked at the music collection of the library, and as a singer in the Arizona Chamber Choir when we did a few organ-accompanied performances. His gentle demeanor and humility were a rarity among the large egos at the School of Music, and his violent death has troubled me greatly. While this page is presented (as with everything else) in my somewhat tongue-in-cheek gopher format, its content is nonetheless intended as a most solemn tribute to this great man. God bless you, Dr. Johnson.
