GENERAL
NOTES ON THE MAPS & DATA The maps and profiles that follow
were generated using GPS data imported into National Geographics TOPO!
Program. The elevation profile graphs
show the distance and end elevation in the lower left, the elevation gain (+)
and loss (-) is shown in the lower right.
For several of the out and back courses the maps, elevation profiles,
and data files represent the route to the turn-around point. If only half of the course is shown the
elevation gain and loss numbers can be added together to obtain the total
elevation gained for the full course. |

All of the data files are in ZIP format. After downloading they must be UNZIPPED. The gpx file is a GPS Exchange format
file that can be read into virtually any GPS device capable of accepting
routes. If your device doesn’t recognize this format there are a
variety of tools to convert the file to a format your device
recognizes. One tool that usually does the job is “gpsbabel”. The kml file is a Google Earth
file. Use the free application from earth.google.com to view the course
in 3 dimensions! The tpo file is viewed using the
National Geographic TOPO! program. |
