What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared
to what lies within us.

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. --Elizabeth K|bler-Ross

A note to readers: I am not a doctor, not anything close. A small group of friends and I have put together this site as a suicide prevention site. We don't want people to have to go through what we have been through. The things we say are things we have researched or found to have worked for us when depressed or feeling suicidal.

An introduction:

You've stumbled across the suicide prevention site, either by word of mouth or just by browsing the web. This is a site for people feeling down, or who have friends feeling down. Every year thousands of people commit suicide. It kinda seems like a thing that happens to other people in other states. But when you start feeling that bad or your friends do, its entirely different. In 2001 30,622 people commited suicide and 132,353 were hospilized for suicide attempts. This site isnt about facts though. It's about what you can do for yourself, or your friend, to feel better. I have many friends who struggle with depression and suicide every day and I have also struggled with suicide and depression. Life isn't getting much easier either. In the past 45 years suicides have increased 60%, see what I mean? Life isn't the piece of cake people can make it out to be.

A few things you can do for yourself on a really bad night (or day):

Last thoughts:

If you think a friend, or think that you are in dire need of help, there are options other than suicide. Call 1-800-784-2433, but if calling isnt your thing, write a note to a school counselor or close family friend. You can also email us at our suicide helpline. Email us your depression story. include why you are depressed, why you think you are depressed and how it happened and or whats going on in your life. Someone checks emails at least three times a day. We will always email you back! Email at SOShope@hotmail.com Sometimes emailing is easier than speaking to someone. But we advise you to tell someone near you. Remember this, you aren't weak! Depression isn't anyone's fault. It can be a chemical imbalance, or caused by stressful situations. Everyone always needs hope, and I'm not talking about just religious kind. I'm talking about the hope that makes you know its ok to wake up tomorow and feel good about yourself. other sites to check out:
