Jonah, Happy New Year! This is a follow-up on Polo the Pit Bull in Silver Spring. The women who is going to put the Pit down this weekend. The reason why it took me so long to get back to you is because her son was home for a winter break. Unfortunately he did not do right by the dog. Polo didn't get walked and was caged up at night for hours until her son woke up. Here is alitttle more information on Polo. She is 1 yr and couple months old and has not been spayed. She has never had a litter of pups yet. She looks like Peety on the Little Rascals. She is about 65 pounds and she is up-to-date with her shots. Polo has been raised around children. Polo is not really what you would call house broken. The young man that raised her never walked her much and not at all this past Christmas. With the proper obedience training she would become a loving and compationate member of the family!!! If you have any queststions please contact me Diana Townsend on Hm (301) 460-7959, WK (301) 713-3333x103. Polo's final hours are approaching PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Very springy and playful and loyal, housebroken but if left for long periods of time, she always goes down in the basement. Indoor dog (hates the cold.) She is extremely intelligent (knows how to open doors etc. and learned on her own). Already has had one litter of pups. Is not neutered/spayed. Very aggressive towards any animal and cannot be trusted around children. Only likes me and my husband (very loyal). Towards us she is extremely affectionate and sweet. She is very laid back, but if she sees or hears anything unusual, she responds quickly to it. She is the love of my life but my husband is sick and I cannot take care of her and want to find the right home for her. 2. Carma, female, Fawn in color, born 6/98, not neutered/spayed, about 45 pounds, all shots up-to-date. Very healthy. Very mellow, great around all people and children. Also is outdoor dog. Not housebroken but when he comes into the house, will pee on newspaper (but not all the time). He barks non-stop if he wants something. Very tame. 4. Malcolm/female/black with white chest/born 9/11/98. Paddy's puppy. About 20 pounds/very loving and easy to be with/extremely intelligent, non-aggressive towards animals/not neutered/spayed. All shots up-to-date. Very healthy. Very unusual, very special. Lap dog/ hates the cold. Is becoming housetrained and I am teaching her commands. A little bit willful. I found your email address on the Internet. We are in desperate need of finding homes for our dogs. Here are the particulars: Dakota, Male, Neutered. 70lbs. Fawn-colored red-nose Pit Bull with ADBA papers. Dakota is friendly and loving. Only aggressive tendencies are towards other animals, although he gets along splendidly with Lexus. Would be best served in a single-dog home or adopted with Lexus into the same home. Extremely people friendly. He's 2 years old and he's a beloved family pet. Lexus, Female, Spayed, 55lbs. Brindle Am Staff mix. Lexus is 3 years old. She's a friend to people and other animals alike. She's very smart and well mannered. Energetic and loves to play catch. She would be a wonderful addition to any home. Dakota and Lexus were socialized from a very young age and are people oriented. Both dogs currently live in a home with a small child and are loving and gentle with her. Their vaccinations are up to date, with records to prove it. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Alison arich@elcamino.com

We recently found a male Pit Bull (we think might actually be part Chow) wandering our neighborhood. He was thin and very shy and appeared to have been "on the run" for awhile. We have now had him in our care for approx. 6 weeks and he has come a long way. Jake, as he is now called, is brindle in color, brown eyes, black nose and black toungue. He is roughly 40-50 pounds, no more than 10-12 months old and now in good health. He is quite the "puppy." We have had him fixed and he is current on all his shots. Jake has the potential to be a GREAT dog. He is a very sweet and lovable guy. He will thrive in a home that can give him lots of attention. He is really full of energy! He plays well with other dogs but has a tendency to chase cats. (Although it seems that he just wants to play, he has never aggressively taken out after our cat.) He does quite well on a leash, but he sometime likes to take his own walks. The best home for him would be somewhere with a secure yard and/or lots of room to run. He is learning to mind his manners nicely. He is a little "mouthy" but as long as he has chew toys, he's okay. He is a definitely indoor/outdoor dog, he likes to sleep where he can see someone. We are located in the Los Angeles area (more specifally Torrance.) We would really like to find him a loving home. We did place him for about a week, but the family who adopted him for there little boy developed severe allergies due to asthma. It was truly heartbreaking for both parties involved. They are willing to give a reference!

I am looking to place an American Pit Bull Terrier. She is the offspring of the mean streets of East New York, Brooklyn. I rescued her after she was abandoned by parties unknown, who mated her, we assume, kept the puppies and threw her out. She's no older than a year. Brindle and white, appears to be purebred, good disposition, loves people, and is easily trained. I presently have her in a fenced-in yard with a doghouse for shelter. I cannot keep her because I already have four dogs of my own, all strays. If you can help me out, or know anyone who can, please contact me. Hi. My name is Jeremy. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats and can't keep this guy. He is very affectionate with people and some dogs. However, he is aggressive towards cats. Ham is somewhere between 1 and 2 years and not neutered, but will be soon. He will also be vaccinated. He is mostly light brown in color with specks of white on his feet and snout. He weighs in somewhere between 50-60- lb. He is very gregarious and loves people and some dogs. He actually submitted to my 15 year-old 6 lb. Chihuahua - but who wouldn't? Importantly, he is very bad with cats and I don't see him getting over it. However, he is incredibly attentive to his human and loves to please. This guy would be a perfect companion for someone with strength energy, as he has both. Contact Jeremy: jedcoty@aol.com

I am fostering a 5 month old female pit bull pup. She is brindle and her temperment is very sweet. She was going to be put down because the owner couldn't find a home. I work for a veterinary hospital so I was able to intervine. She is in good health, has all her shots and has alot of love to give. She's calm and as she trains easily, she is also good with other dogs , cats and children. The only reason I need to find another home for her is due to a very unruly JackRussell Terrier that won't accept her She will also be spayed before going to a new home. Any help in placing her would be greatly appreciated, she is really a sweet dog. Thank you

Buster and I are currently living in Yucaipa, California near San Bernardino. I rescued Buster from a local school yard. He was a stray with no tags and was on his way to the pound. From the vet's best guest Buster is about 10-11 months old and he last weighed in at 56 pounds. He is a green-eyed red nose with a golden reddish brown coat. He has been fixed. Buster is an excellent and intelligent dog. He is VERY loving and wants lots of love and attention. He tries his best to be laying were he can touch me almost at all times. He is always nudging your hand to let you know he wants to be pet. He likes to be around people. He does well with children. He let my friend's four year old son lay all over him. Buster is house broken. He lets you know when he needs to be let out. He does sit, lay, and stay very well. He often has a problem coming back to you when calling him if he is not on a leash. He is generally a mellow dog, but always gets hyper and runs around when you get home. He does well in the house, but has just recently began chewing things if he is left in the house alone. As I said, he demands a lot of attention and he's still young. Since I rescued him at the age of about 7 months I don't know how his previous owners trained him, but he is very affectionate. He was apparently hit previously because he cowers at a raised hand. He is very aware when he has done something wrong, like chewing. I would love to be able to keep Buster, but I don't have the appropriate yard and I am not home often enough to give him the affection he needs. As I said he's a very loyal and loving dog. Buster would be a great dog for you if you have a yard for him to run in, several people in your family he could love, and time to talk him on walks and to play. He's almost mastered fetching, but still needs a little work.

I am a volunteer at Siskiyou Humane Society in Mt. Shasta (northern border of California). I am trying to help place a purebred Pit Bull Terrier named Eagle in a loving home. Eagle is a dominantly white male with some black and brown on a saddle-shaped marking on his back. He is not yet neutered and an adult(3-4 years of age). Eagle is DEAF but is trained to simple hand signals for sit, lie down, no, stay, attention, and come here. He is very obedient, likes people in general, is totally non-aggressive and loves attention. Eagle likes other dogs and gets along with all in the shelter. Reason for surrender at shelter is that the owners had too many dogs to comply with the city ordinance in city limits, and were forced to surrender to shelter. Eagle has been at the Siskiyou Humane Society animal shelter for about three weeks and may be difficult to place in such a small populated area as this. I am hoping that you can help us to find him a good home. If you can help, please call the shelter at (530) 926-4052 to talk to the staff. To adopt, there is a $10 adoption fee plus a $40 deposit to get him neutered. The $40 is given back to you as a coupon to get Eagle neutered, and is redeemable at the veterinarian of your choice at time of surgery, taking $40 off the price of the neuter. Shelter hours 12:30 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday.

Hey there. There is an especially sweet male pit bull in my complex that I would like to see go to a good home. He is approximately 10months old, I've started him on papers. He is "hand-shy" because it seems he's been beaten. I know he hasn't eaten in quite a while because I can count every rib. I had a Vet check him out and we vaccinated him. He's incredibly intelligent but a little tone deaf. He can hear, but sometimes misses low frequency tones. He's white with a few brown flecks on his ears. Please help me find him a good home. Evenings are the best time to call. Theresa 405/377.5686 (Stillwater, Oklahoma)

Hello; I have a truly sad story. Puppy breaks her front leg while still living with breeders. Cost will be over $700 to fix. Owners don't have that kind of money so they give puppy away. (Litter was selling for $300 a piece) The first owner can't get leg fixed either so puppy starts getting bounced around to various people trying to find home for it. Local pound says they would probably put animal to sleep. My wife got involved and is trying to help. We may end up footing bill for resetting leg, pins etc. 1. Is there any body or organization out there that might be able to help. 2. The dog is a female, approx age 3 months, brown coat, nose is still pink, leg has been broken for about three weeks. Very gentle dispostion, love affection, loves to play with our Basset Hound. Shots are supposed to be up to date. The dog as papers and I think I can get them. I took a pit bull mix pregnant out of a kill shelter in NJ at the end of November. Her name is Sadie and she delivered 8 puppies after two days being with me. She was a wonderful mother and now I have her 8-eight week old pups. I belong to a rescue group called Animal Allies in Trenton, NJ. We do proper adoptions by using adoption applications and doing vet checks. I am having a very hard time adopting out my pit bull mixes because I want the right type of people to adopt them. So far I have adopted only one! I am enclosing a picture of Sadie who two weeks ago went to live with a breeder of pugs. His champion pug had 5 pups and she died of cardiac arrest in a C section. He needed someone to take over and you guessed it a pit bull stepped in and did the job. I think this is worthy of being advertised for all those people who hate pit bulls only because of the bad reputation they get from ignorant people who breed them to fight! Also is there anyway you could advertise my pups? I would appreciate the help. Lorraine Schrieber Animal Allies 609-989-4830

I have a 11 month old male pitbull that needs to be placed in a good enviroment with no other animals. His name is Pooh, he is around 50-60 Ibs, he is tan with fawn brindle strips on his back. He has a chocolate nose with yellow eyes. He has a small white strip on his nose. He also has 4 white paws. His neck and his belly is white. Pooh is nuetered with all of his shots up to date. Pooh is a good dog and very people friendly. He is dog aggressive around other dogs and some other animals. He likes to play and have fun. I live in an apartment and he is confined inside all day long. I don't have time for him anymore and I can't control him when I walk him around other dogs. He has attacked one dog but did not hurt the dog. He got out the door when I wasn't home and my brother couldn't get him in time. He has never bitten anyone out of pure aggression only when he is fighting with other dogs. It has only been on accident and he didn't know he did. I need to get rid of him because I am female and I have become afraid of him. This is my last resort. If I can't find a good home for him I will have to put him to sleep. I anyone is interested please email me back at fall19pooh@aol.com. He is a great dog and he will be able to make someone very happy if he is in the right enviroment.

At my local SPCA there is a black male pitbull pup who is about 12 weeks old. His eyes are brown and he will only be adopted out to pitbull people who have a fenced yard. They definately don't want him going to a fighting home. The adoption fee at my SPCA is $65.oo and includes the dog's nuetering. I believe it also includes the first shots. he is very frisky and inquisitive. He loves to chew HARD on anything he can find, but he is so darn cute. He does listen when I tell him no bite, but not for very long, he is a puppy after all! There is also a red female, mixed pit puppy, who looks very pit. She can go to whoever wants her, no special requirements. She is a doll. The fee is the same for her, as for the male. Her eyes are brown, also. she is about the same age, but they aren't sure. She was found at a rest area. If you are interested please contact me at Laetts@aol.com Thank-you Leanne

I am a volunteer at Operation Kindness in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, writing to you on my own to try and help a pit named Roxie. She is pale in color and appears somewhat small and we believe she is very young. She was rescued, had been tied up, and was very underweight. Although loving at times, she is aggressive at times and unfortunately has bitten several staff members. She hates cats and other dogs. She will probably have to be put down if we cannot find someone to take her. She has won my heart and I know that there may be nothing we can do, but I thought I would try. Thank you for any response. my screen name is emswinner@ aol.com.

Bozo is a white male(neutered), red nose, 65 pounds. All shots are current and he is healthy. He is approximately 1 yr. old and very active. He has learned "off," "no," "sit" and has started leash training. He shows no aggressiveness toward other dogs and is very friendly with people. He does bark to protect his yard. Because his hair is short he gets cold easily and must sleep indoors. In his foster home he has a blanket in a small carpeted bathroom (because the old dog doesn't like him). He sleeps well and does not potty inside during the night. Contact Tracey... tskrzat@ibm.net

I have a young( about 11/2-2) recently neutered albino pitbull. He is deaf but otherwise healthy and has been made up to date on his shots and wormed after I found him. He is a well muscled dog. He is not people aggressive and seems to do well with most other dogs. He will defend himself but doesnt seem fight happy ( he was attacked by a supposedly friendly bouvier and stood up for himself). He has been passed around quite a bit. He stayed with me for a while but I dont have the proper facilities to keep him and my dog had cruciate ligament surgery recently and is a bit fight happy so constant seperation was to much. This dogs biggest problem is he LOVES people too much. The ONLY thing he wants is to be with people. He needs training and lots of attention and a stable environment to get over his seperation anxiety and calm down a bit. If I did not have a fight happy male I would keep him. He weighs about 60-70 pounds of solid muscle (not an ounce of fat).He is living in an abandoned trailor right now. He is fed and watered and walked sometimes but cant be kept this way for long (it is no way for a dog to live, especially one who craves peoples attention), if he doesnt find a home soon he will have to be put down. As far as his deafness I didn't find it hard to train him with leash and collar corrections and hand signals. I only taught him to sit and not jump, but he learned quickly. His obedience is not good now as he has been on his own for a while but a good handler could fix him up. We call him Pinky. We have kept him alive for 6 months now but his time is short now.

I found your site on the internet and I thought this was the last means of hope for me. A stray pit bull was found a week ago by an animal control officer friend of mine. I am familiar with animal control practices in this area, and I knew that if he was not claimed in three days, he would be put to sleep. Animal control does not adopt out potentially dangerous animals. I spent some time with him until he was taken away, and asked that I be contacted before the dog was euthanized if not claimed. Needless to say, the owners never claimed him so I picked him up from the pound knowing that I could find this wonderful dog a home. He was so sweet and gentle, and I thought I'd screen calls from potential owners using the newspaper. I took him to the vet and got him dewormed, tested for heartworms and started on heartworm preventative, vaccinated, neutered and put on medicine for kennel cough that he contracted from the pound. I reveived over 30 calls to adopt him, however, when they found out that he was neutered, or that i didn't have papers for him, people were no longer interested. Others did not have fences, or veterinarian references that i required. I place many pets in loving home, but i refuse to give away a dog to someone who is more interested in breeding or fighting him. He is a 1 and a half year old male, he is also brindle colored (very distinct markings), about 41 pound but shorter than average and very loving. He is very shy and not hyper at all. I put him in the house and he is house trained, and does not jump up on you when you come home. When I put him with my other dogs, he seems very submissive, but he does not appear to have been abused. Please help me place this dog with a loving family. I live in Fayetteville, NC and I refuse to plave another ad in the paper for him due to the responses I was getting. He is also very good with children. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I await your reply. Gale Violette

Zaye is about 4-6 months old, gets along with the Rotweiller, gets along and plays with the 2 year old grandson, so I would have to say her disposition is very good. She has been through a lot already. Her previous and abusive owner, dropped her off unexpectedly in my son's yard. (They know/knew each other). Zaye has a displaced rear hip/leg that the vet said had healed incorrectly and can't be repaired, she has what the vet though was frost bite on her front paw and cuts from the ice. That has been treated and is now okay. She has had shots, how many I don't know, but my son said the vet has a record of them. I live in Frederick, Md and I am doing this because he doesn't have a computer and the fact that I love dogs. (Have 3 already and have to stop somewhere). Zaye is marked like a cow and small. That is all I know about her, other than she appears to be a grateful and good dog. She is one the way to being house trained. Thanks for any help you can give. This situation is time critical. Please post to your webpage. Smokey is a 1 year old intact male Texas Rednose Pit Bull Terrier. He was born January 1998. He was purchased as a present for present owner by son in law. He is brownish red, brown eyes and reddish brown nose. I am told he is a laid back lazy kind of dog that watches TV and sleeps on the bed. He is not a bark nor is he well housetrained. He will tell you he has to go out and if you do not acknowledge him, he will go in the house. The owner has 5 foster children and the foster agency has told her that the dog cannot be kept in the house with the children because of the breed. Smokey has never shown any aggression to anyone, he is very good with kids. Smokey has been living outside in the yard for the last 3 weeks and the neighbors are starting to complain. Dog will be neutered before placement. Adoption fee & adoption contract. Dog is in Laurelton Queens NY Interested parties should contact Barbara at 212-833-4407 or via e-mail at Barbara_Lukowski@sonymusic.com Posted 1/27/99

Hi, I found an abandoned pit bull in the woods this fall. She is absolutely wonderful and gets along great with my two dogs. Unfortunately, three dogs is more than I can handle. Also, the pit bull is starting to roam and my dogs are starting to follow her. This has caused me a major problem. I am desperately trying to find her a home. She would make a wonderful pet for someone. She is spade and house broken and very loving. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have as to where I could find her a home. Jan Berlage

My husband and I are dog lovers. We have 4 total. Powder was about 2 1/2 months old. This man was walking her with this heavy link chain and a lock around her neck. We pulled over and offered him money for her. When we brought her home we noticed signs that she had been fighting, her ear was torn, and she was very nippy. She did break out of those bad habits and every bad thing weve heard about pitbulls is not true. We are having a baby and I know I won't have the time for her. We want to give her to someone who has lots of patience and time for play. Powder is now 2years old. living in Newinton, Conneticut. She's 24" tall, weighs 75lbs., black eyes and nose, her coat is all white with a tan spot on her tail. She is fixed. She is updated with all her vaccinations. Her personality is very friendly. Gets exited when she meats a new face. lovs to run around and play catch. knows her commands and responds well. Loves all kinds of fruits and veggies as a treat. Now that she is 2 she has calmed down but still gets exited with a new face. According to the vet she was born with a problem in the back legs joints . she walkes funny , not noticeable unless you know your dogs. Powder does know it. We are hoping there is someone who can give her lots of love and attention. YOUR FRIENDS , GEORGE AND CRISTINA

Southern Calif. - Female Pit mix named Amarillo; approx 18 mos old; spayed; vaccinations current; golden color; 60lbs; EXTREMELY SMART!! Very good with people but not with other animals. This dog was abandoned at the wrecking yard where my husband works. She made the rounds of the 3 businesses in the area following the catering truck at break time and getting handouts. Employees took up a collection to have her spayed and vaccinated. She chose my husbands employer as home and my husband as her human. My husband took responsibility for her when animal control threatened to pick her up and she is no longer allowed to wander. He tried to bring her home but she displayed possessiveness of my husband and hostility towards our other dogs. Because she has eliminated the wrecking yard of rats and ground squirrels I don't think cats would be safe around her. If you are someone that has no other animals and wants an animal with single minded devotion this is the dog for you. Although she is friendly to me, I think she is more of a man's dog. I picture her riding around in a truck as a constant companion. She is affectionate, good natured and calm. She loves to play; she will fetch and play tag until you're too tired to throw. My husband is becoming anxious about her future because his employer is selling out and we have no place for Amarillo. Please help. This dog is worthy of a long, happy, life and will repay it with love and devotion. Karen Kay

According to all the neighbors, Buster is the handsomest dog on the block. They know him not only from the yard but from his diligently watching out the front room window any chance he gets. Buster is a male pitbull mix, mostly black with partly brindle legs and face and a white chest. He's neutered and up to date on all his shots. He has a black nose and brown eyes. He weighs 73 pounds. It's hard to say what he's mixed with, but he's thinner than a purebred pitbull. He's about 18 months old. I found Buster on the street in early December. You can imagine how sweet he looks if I saw a pitbull mix on the street and told him to get in my car without hesitating. The people around me thought I was nuts but I could sense his sweetness and knew we were meant to be friends. And oh, Buster loves to ride in the car, by the way. In terms of personality, he loves people of all sizes and types. The reason I need to find a new home for him is that he doesn't, however, get along with cats. My housemate's 2 kittens would like their house back, thank you. They've fended him off both times he accidently got at them, since they still have their claws, but living together's just not going to work. Buster has gotten along fine with three out of the four dogs he's met. He got in 2 fights with the fourth, another male pitbull mix. A toy seemed to trigger it both times and now they are kept separate when the other guy comes to visit -- they got along great 99% of the time but we've decided it was too traumatic for the humans to risk having them be around each other. The dogs were relatively unfazed by the conflicts, which seemed to start mutually. Buster is so sweet in general that it took us a while to get through our heads that he needs to be reminded frequently that he is not dominant, and that his pitbull fighting instincts do come out. A trainer gave us tips on anti- dominance work and we do that stuff: making him sit frequently, kicking him off the furniture randomly, practicing downs, etc. It's little stuff that only takes a few minutes a day but we can see that it's working. I think of him as bossy rather than aggressive, because he's really very affectionate. But his tendency to try to be dominant is something you need to be conscious of if he joins your household. Therefore, Buster would be best off in a home without other pets, and without small children. He's a super dog, very friendly. He is crate trained and follows basic commands. He likes to be outside but is also happy to sit on the couch and watch out the window. I don't know Buster's history before I met him, so I can't say. But he appears to not have been abused -- he is not fearful or anxious around people. He's energetic but not hyper. He's not laid back, either, but he does need his exercise like all dogs. After I get home from work we go for a walk and try to learn fetch (I have it down, but he's still working on the bringing it back part. He thinks it's pretty fun just to walk around chewing on the ball. He is eager to please but very distractable.) After our walk Buster gets to chew on a bone or a toy and when it's bedtime he comes up on the bed when I tell him to, and he sleeps there all night. He's not a whiner or an excessive barker, which is great. Buster is very strong physically and peronsality-wise. He needs a firm yet loving owner, and again let me say he needs a cat-free home, and a dog-free home unless you feel comfortable taking the risk. He might get along fine with another certain dog, but I cannot guarantee it. He is the kind of dog who would be happy to spend a lot of time outside, provided he gets good human interaction and love, praise and guidance as needed. Please write to me, Dawn, at dawnkett@aol.com or call 517-372-2472 if you think you and Buster might be a good match. Thanks!

Hi MAC, I sent in an e-mail regarding a dog I have that needs a home back in december but have not seen it posted, so forgive me if this note is redundant. Her name is Kubrick, she is approx. 2 years old and mix breed (pit bull & Labrador). She looks predominately Pit, Tan Brindle, weighs approx. 65 lbs. She is spayed and current on all shots. She is loyal and loving, loves kids and adults. She currently lives with two small dogs (dachshunds) that she loves, but she is quite a bit bigger and can sometimes play a little rough with them, so I feel that she would be better in a home as a single dog, or with other larger dogs. She is well trained (Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Off), extremely willing to please and learn, she loves to work. She is extremely obedient, tucks herself into her crate at night, and won't touch her food until given permission. I hate to part with her but a recent move has made it impossible for me to keep her. She is quite energetic and needs room to roam, not an entire ranch, but a good back yard and ample walks. She is currently in Los Angeles, CA. I can be reached at (213)388-8753 or at editbot@aol.com. Thank you. Kristofer

This small, all black female pit/staff terrier mix is currently being fostered by a canine rescue group based in Great Neck, NY called "For Our Friends". The dog is kennelized at the Great Neck Animal Hospital. The number to call regarding adopting her and for more information is 516-421-1198. She has been there for a while (I'm not sure exactly how long) after being rescued from the streets. She is around 2-3 years old and healthy, with a sweet disposition, but she has a facial scar that she acquired during her days as a stray which turns off a lot of potential adopters. This dog desperately needs a good home and love instead of a cage in an overcrowded kennel. Please help. Thank you!

Hi, I am trying to find a home for a pit bull I rescued. I cannot keep him, and I cannot take him to a local shelter (I live in Philadelphia) because they will immediately destroy him. The dog's name is Pluto (but he also responds to "Buddy" and "Puppy"). He is approximately one year old, 50 lbs at his last vet appt (December). He was fully vaccinated and fixed in June (when I first rescued him). He is healthy except for a raw spot on his tail (he wags it against everything!). I think he is a full-blooded pit bull terrier, dark brown with a white/spotted chest blaze and some white on his paws. He has a very good personality with people and larger dogs. He is not very well behaved with smaller dogs and other small animals--he has chased my cats, and bitten a neighbor cat. I don't know if this is aggressive behavior or puppy behavior. His training is minimal--housebreaking is about 75%, he is okay with being crated (which I have to do because he CHEWS), and he knows "Sit." I am trying to get him to walk nicely on a leash. He is also pretty good at coming when his name is called. I think Pluto would do best in a home with other large dogs. He needs lots more exercise than I can give him. That and some obedience training I think will work wonders. Thanks, Megan DeJarlais (215) 923-0575

Hi, my name is kate Gablaski. I work at a no kill shelter and they have a redness Pitt. His name is kio. his location is Sterling MA. he is 3, height I am not sure on but he is about 55-70 lbs. But he has a very blocky head is not fixed he is good with kids. Golden colored eyes and red. I believe his is up to date on his shots but I can check. no aggressive tendencies, not sure of likes but fine with other dogs. He is not laid back and not hyper active either. My problem is he will be put to sleep soon because the shelter cannot keep him any more because he can scale fences and they told me (I work there) he is to smart to keep. I took him for the first time on a lease and he was really good! I was in complete control... Kio is a very large pit and has awesome muscle tone. I would take him but on 1/18/99 I had my pit/lab mix put to sleep because of complications of Parvo. I am not prepared for any more animals as of right now. I don't want a dog to be put down because he is to smart and can climb a fence! I would not be doing this if he was mean or was a bad dog. I want to see him get placed! Soon! I can have him for a 10 dollar deposit. which you get back after he is fixed! Please Help he will be put to sleep soon.
