The door at the end of the hall was two pieces of plywood covered in wallpaper and the shelves inside were pieces of wood, some painted and some not. It looks much better with a real door. By the way, I should mention that all of the original interior doors were rather shabby. They had scratches or were painted. The door into the library even opened the wrong direction. None of them had locks, as most people expect to have on bedroom and bathroom doors. I replaced every one of them with new oak doors.

Also note the thermostat and door bell. The original thermostat was an old analog dial model. I replaced it with a decent, but not overly expensive digital programmable one. There was no door bell at all. I opted for a dual-tone wireless model to ease installation. Each of the two buttons could be programmed for a different tone so I could determine which door to answer.
