This is my first house that I purchased in the summer of 2002. It's a cute little 1100 square foot, 3 bed, 1 bath, ranch in Van Buren Township, Michigan. One of the things I loved most about it was the acre of land. It's nothing particularly special to see on the outside since I never did landscaping. All of my efforts went to renovating the inside. I used one bedroom as a computer room and another as a library. The links below will take you through the rooms of the house. Some of them have "before" pictures that show what the place looked like when I bought it. As you'll see, I needed some vision to appreciate what I was buying. :) Some of the "after" pictures are a bit dark since I couldn't get adequate lighting when I was shooting them, but you'll still be able to recognize the vast improvement the work yielded. Even though I don't have pictures, I finished the library the same way I did the other two bedrooms. The closet in there housed the furnace so I only replaced the door and left the rest unfinished. The one room that I didn't touch (other than the door) was the bathroom. It was the least offensively decorated room in the house. I don't have any pictures of it, which is rather amusing now that I think about it since it held such high esteem in an otherwise attrociously decorated residence. (I won't mention the towel racks and toilet paper holder so I don't detract from your idealist imagination of how wonderful it was.) |
