Mercy Bullet Causes Death

Mrs. Hulda Cora Finley, late of the Goodman Point section, passed away Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mildred Wilson of Yellow Jacket. Cause of her death was a bullet wound which was inflicted by her son Virgil the latter part of May when, in an effort to save her from an attack by the father, he fired a bullet thru the father's body killing him instantly. The bullet passed on and struck Mrs. Finley in the head. For some time she was at the Johnson hospital for treatment but when it became apparent that nothing more could be done for her she was moved to the home of the daughter at Yellow Jacket. It has been evident all the time that she could not live and death ended a terrible period of suffering.

The tragic shooting of Finley by his son was one of the most regretable things to occur in this county and now the passing of the mother makes the load of grief doubly heavy on the surviving children, all of whom have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.

Mrs. Finley was 56 years of age at the time of her death, having been born at Cheptsow, Kansas, July 20, 1875. With her family she moved to Montezuma county in 1917, locating on the ranch at Goodman Point up until the 22nd of May, this year.

Mrs. Finley is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Sellers, Princeton, Kansas; Mrs. Bessie Koci, Auburn Kansas; Mrs. Mildred Wilson, Yellow Jacket, Colorado; Mrs. Lela Rice, Cortez, and one son Virgil, present whereabouts unknown.

Funeral services were held at the Ertel Mortuary this afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was at Arriola.
