February 17th: RISE

Celebration Cinema in Lansing will host a one-night-only showing of RISE, a documentary commemorating the the 50th anniversary of the 1961 U.S. World Figure Skating Team, whose members perished in a plane crash on their way to the World Championships in Prague.
The film, which tells the stories of the lost team and chronicles the rebirth of American figure skating, will be shown as part of a live event hosted by Today co-host Matt Lauer in New York, and featuring appearances by Brian Boitano, Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamilton, Michelle Kwan, and Evan Lysacek.
Proceeds from the event go to the Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships and assistance to skaters. Advance tickets can be purchased online.
