Profile

Created a profile on my church's missionary web site, and this was one of the link buttons I found there:
I'm a Mormon.

American Thinking

Charles Johnson posted another Zombie photograph of a recent anti-war protest in California.

Each honorable American in my acquaintance thinks like an American. Each also thinks like someone who cares for the whole planet. Not only are these two ways of thinking not mutually exclusive, they are very close to coincidental. Example: the best, most generous way Americans can share their prosperity with the rest of the world is to persuade the governments of more countries to more fully embrace capitalism, self-reliance, and freedom of concience.

These idiot activists are not persuasive. They don't know how American's truly think; they'd rather browbeat Americans and preach that they don't think correctly. I reject the activists' haughty condescension.

Michelle Obama visited the local high school

Michelle Obama visited my teenage daughter's high school yesterday. When I dropped her off at school in the morning, I told her how nice it was to have the historic opportunity to see and/or hear the spouse of a presidential candidate in her own school.

I was wrong. She wasn't allowed anywhere near the event. Apparently, to Ms. Obama and her husband's campaign, my daugher and her fellow students are annoyances that need to be kept away from the "important" people and events. I guess I should have expected this. If the caricature of Senator Obama as an elitist seeking to be "snob-in-chief" of the United States of America is an exaggeration, it's a slight one.

Clayton Ashley reads James Lileks

Clayton Ashley is a video game reviewer and blog contributor at GamingSteve.com. He writes:

"Stop The Presses! A 'Real World' Journalist Actually 'Gets' Gaming"

I wonder: would Lileks enjoy being called a "'Real World' Journalist?"
