He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, and for the past sixteen years had been a resident of Dawson county. During the dark days of the civil war he was a Union soldier, being a member of Co. W. ANDERS After an illness covering most of a period for the last five years, John W. Anders died at his home in this city Wednesday night, August 16, 1916, at the age of 76 years, 4 months. He has been a resident of Dawson county for the past sixteen years, and since he became in feeble health, his son Jesse M. and wife have been living with him. Mr. Anders was born near Zanesville, Muskingum county, Ohio, April ?? 1840. He enlisted Aug 22, 1862, in Company A, 122 Ohio volunteer infantry and served during the war of the rebellion until his discharge June 26, 18??. Soon after the war he was married to Maria Barringer. There are eight children all of whom, with his wife survive him. The children are Jesse M. and Joseph A. Anders of Lexington, Mrs Laura B. Williams of Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Amanda Rinehart of Hastings, Neb., Mrs. Lizzie Briggs of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Jennie Holman of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Emma Brown of Northport, Neb., and Chas. T. They made their home in Arthur County, Nebraska, until a few months ago when they moved to Sutherland. Mrs. Anders was always a kind and loving wife, a most devoted mother, a true friend and loyal neighbor. She was a regular church attendant as long as her health permitted and a willing worker in church work. She was preceded in death by Mr. Swindell, both parents, her eldest son, Harry, her youngest daughter, Mrs. Bessie Grant, one grand daughter, one great-grand son and one brother, Roy Baxter. M. McIntire, as Administrator with the Will Annexed of the Estate of John W. Anders, Deceased, for license to sell real estate belongin to said Estate, and it appearing to the Court that a duly verified Petition has been filed in this Court showing that all the personal estate of John W. Anders has been converted into cash, by said Administrator with the Will Annexed, and that there is not sufficient money in the hands of said Administrator to pay claims against said Estate, and the cost of administration and attorneys' fees, and that said John W. Anders at the date of his death was the owner of Lots Six (6) and Seven (7) of County Clerk's Subdivision of Lot Seven (7) of Clarkson's Subdivision of the Northeast Quarter (NE1/4) of Section Twenty-nine (29) in Township Fourteen (14) North of Range Thirty-three (33) West of the 6th P. M. in Lincoln County, Nebraska. IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED that all persons interested in said Estate will appear before this Court on the 1st day of July 1952, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. in the District Court Rool in the Court House in the City of North Platte Lincoln County, Nebraska, at which time any and all persons interested in said Estate shall appear to show cause why a license should not be granted to said Administrator with the Will Annexed to sell the aboce described property for the payment of debts and cost of administration. The family moved from Ohio to Missouri in 1880, later moving to Goodland Kas. In 1886, they came to Nebraska and made their home in Hasitngs. On March 23, 1903, Jesse Anders and Miss Ida Mae Henry were married at the home of a frient in Lexington. They first resided for anumber of years in Aurora, and then returned to Lexington, where Mr. Anders was engaged in business. For a few years they homesteaded at Marino, Colo., and in 1921, they moved to the farm northeast of Cozad which has been the family home ever since. For Many years, Mr. Anders was a loyal member of the Church of Christ in Cozad, and had served as a member of the official board. He was a member of the Cozad IOOF lodge and a past Noble Grand of the organization. He also was a member of the Priscilla Rebekah ledge for many years. During the years of the married like, Mr. and Mrs. Anders took eight young folks into their home. Among those who were privileged to make their home with the Anders in past years were: Blanch Anders, Lawrence Anders, Irene Anders (Now Mrs. Ed Roe of Cozad), Betty Conlin (now Mrs. Mike Reiners of Chicago), John and Jackob Kirkpatrick, and John's children, Josephine (now Mrs. Blair of Seattle, Wash.) and David. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joseph Anders; three sisters, Laura B. Williams, Jennie Homan and Amanda Rinehart; a foster son, Jacob Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his wife; one brother, Charlie Anders of Cozad; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Brown of Northport and Miss Lizzie Briggs of Kansas City, Mo.; a foster son, John Kirkpatrick of Overton; several nieces and nephews; two foster grandchildren, Mrs. Josephine Blair of Seattle, Wash., and Cpl. David Kirkpatrick, United States Marine Corps, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ at Cozad Friday afternoon with Guy Dunning of Sutton, former minister of the church, officating,. Burial was in the Cozad cemetery with the IOOF lodge in charge of the burial services. Music was furnished by a male quartet, W. T. Thompson, Wm. Vasey, Joe Heltne, and Royal Vasey, with Mrs. Lucile Knauss as organist. Pallbearers were Roy Powell, Richard Jensen, Chas. Emma Anders Emma Ruamy Anders, daughter of Maria S. and Uriah W. Baxter, was born March 20, 1874, in Nodeway county, Mo., and died May 2, 1961m at the age of 87 years, one month, and 12 days. As a child she also lived in Iowa. On Feb. 5, 1895, she was united in marriage at Mound City, Kan., to John W. Anders, who preceded her in death. To this union three children were born. They are a daughter, Mamie McGuire if Iliff, Colo,. and two sons, George and Clyde of Rose, Nebr., with whom she has made her home for several years. Other survivors include a brother, Chester Baxter of Dunning; a sisterm Bessie Counce of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several vieces and nephews. Mrs. Anders joined the Baptist church in her early womanhood at Arapahoe, Nebr. After her marriage the family moved to a homestead in Grant county. In 1918 Mrs. Anders and her sons moved to Hayes county, where they remained until 1936 when the family moved to Brown County. C. Barr, on Monday, charged with the theft of a horse. Waiving both the reading of the complaint and the preliminary hearing the young man pleaded not guilty and was at once bound over to the district court. Bond was fixed at the sum of $500 and Childs was sure he could secure bondsmen for this amount but was unable to do so on Monday. John Anders, a resident of Bertrand, is the complaining witness and he charges that yound Childs took the animal from his barn one night in November and after driving it to Lexington sold it to a horse buyer.
