Funeral Services for Delbert Ferris, age 56, of O’Neill will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Assembly of God Church in O’Neill, NE.  Burial will follow in the O’Neill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church. Delbert passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill.  Memorials can be directed to the family for future designation.  Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. 

Delbert Lynn Ferris was born July 22, 1962 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, Nebraska to mother, Bessie (Timmerman) Ferris Wecker and step-father, Garry Wecker.  He attended school in O’Neill and graduated from O’Neill High School in 1984. 

He married Shirley Ruther on June 24, 1983 in Burke, SD.  To this union two sons were born, Michael and Scott.   They later divorced. 

He worked for Foxley Cattle Company for some time before taking a job with Olson Industries where he worked for 30 plus years.  During those 30 plus years, he created many friendships with his co-workers and made lasting memories with them.  He retired in 2018 due to health issues.

Delbert enjoyed restoring mustangs, car shows, motorcycles, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was known as always lending a helping hand to others.

Delbert is survived by his children, Michael and wife, Cassandra Ferris and Scott Ferris of Monroe, NE; four grandchildren, Jaydon Hanson, Lola Hamling, Landon Ferris, Laini Ferris; his parents, Garry and Bessie Wecker of O’Neill, NE; four sisters, Maria Roeder and husband, Jim, of O’Neill, NE, Joyce Saxton and husband, Darrell, of Blackfoot, ID, Sandra Zwingman and husband, Dale, of O’Neill, Luretta Alarcon and husband, Pablo, of O’Neill; one brother, Garry Wecker and wife, Danielle, of Parker, CO; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; George and Bertha Timmerman, Milford and Ruth Wecker; and Great -grandparents, George and Luretta Garhart and John and Sarah Timmerman.
