His memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jonathon Seng offciating. Inurnment will be at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetary with military honors by the Bridgeport Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please make a contributoin to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity. Wayne was born on March 27, 1932 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to Claire and Iva Adelia (Cook) Teeters. Iva married Kenneth A. Brown on May 6, 1935, when Wayne was 3 years old. His mother Iva died in 1941 when Wayne was 9 years old. Kenneth raised Wayne along with his step brothers Darryl and Lenord. He attended grad school at Rocky Ridge School and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Air Force that same year, serving in Korea, Greenland, Panama, The Philippians and Vietnam, last serving at Valdosta, Georgia as a Training Instructor. Upon his retirement in January 1972, he worked with the Sherrif's Department in Loendes County, Georgia. He was a welding instructor at Valdosta Vocational School. He also drive a mail truck and continued until his illness. He was a member of the Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Woodmen of the World, Retired Sergeant's Association and the National Rifle Association. Wayne earned 4 service awards while serving in the U.S Air Force. He was preceded in death by his mother Iva Cook Brown, step father Kenneth A. Brown and brother Darryl J. Brown. Wayne is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Lenord L. Brown and Lynda J. Brown of Fort Morgan, Colorado; a sister-in-law Darlene Brown of Pfeifer, Kansas, uncle Frank Fuhrer of Casper, Wyoming; aunts Irma Bateman and Maud Cook both of Bridgeport; special friends Betty, Tony, Lisa and Seth Harrell of Valdosta, Georgia; Sonny Foy of Valdosta; Anisa Gilchrist of Hephzibah, Georgia; one nephew, three nieces and host of friends. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. ...
