Purdy Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday from the Morton funeral home here for Mrs. Eva (Kittie) Purdy, 86, who died Thursday, March 18, at Lutheran hospital, Ft. Dodge. She had been a patient there since March 3, following a severe heart attack. Rev. R. D. Kitterman of the Rockwell City Methodist church officiated and burial was in the Lake City cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Stephani, Guy Moore, Floyd Warner, C. L. Kingsley, Charles Kingsley and Everett Gregory. Floral offerings were arranged by Mrs Robert Stephani, Mrs. H. E. Frownfelter and Mrs. William Sutton. Robert Huey was the soloist, accompanied by Ardith Small, pianist. Eva Arminta Purdy, better known as Kittie E. Purdy, was born in Lake county, Indiana, on Nov. 22, 1867, daughter of Daniel and Latisha Parkhust Yound. The family, consisting of seven girls and one boy, moved to Linn county, Iowas, in 1877 In 1880 they moved to Calhoun county, where the younger children received the early education. She was married to Hiriam Eddie Purdy on Aug. 30, 1884 and to this union one daughter, Fern, was born. Mrs. Purdy had made her home in or near Rockwell City since 1884. She operated the Purdy nursing home here since 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sisters.
