The the B5/DS9 argument is being bandied about on CompuServe (and we all hope it stops, real soon!) But Mark Monack created some very funny *comparisons* that deserve to be saved. So, with Mark's permission, here they are!

Well, if you think the similarities between DS9 and Babylon 5 is eerie,... how a bout the following eerie similarities between Deep Space Nine and... Warner Brothers Cartoons....

1) In Warner Bros, Elmer Fudd shoots at lots of characters, but nobody important gets hurt. In DS9 the Jem'Hadar shoot at lots of characters but nobody importa nt gets hurt.
2) In Warner Bros, Bugs Bunny makes lots of wry comments and occasionally appear s as a woman. In DS9, Dax makes lots of wry comments and occasionally (over the symbiont's long lifetime) appears as a woman.
3) In Warner Bros., Daffy Duck gets into all sorts of trouble because of his greed. In DS9, Quark gets into all sorts of trouble because of his greed.
4) In Warner Bros., Pepe LePew is a charmer who never seems to impress the ladie s. In DS9, Bashir is a charmer who never seems to impress the ladies.
5) In Warner Bros., Wile E. Coyote is always having trouble with his weird contraptions. In DS9, O'Brien is always having trouble with the weird technology on the station.
6) In Warner Bros., the Tasmanian Devil causes all sorts of damage as it devours everything in sight. In DS9, the Borg caused all sorts of damage as it assimil ates everything in sight.
7) In Warner Bros., the chicken hawk attacks Foghorn Leghorn because it is in his nature. In DS9, the Jem'Hadar attack the Federation because it is in their nature (i.e, they were genetically engineered for it)
8) In Warner Bros., Yosemite Sam once played a pirate captain on the high seas, arrayed against our heroes. In DS9, Dukat once played a pirate in deep space, a rrayed against our heroes.
9) In Warner Bros., the characters often went back in time with zany adventures (A Rabbit in King Arthur's Court, for example). In DS9, the characters often we nt back in time with any adventures (Little Green Men and Trials and Tribbleatio ns, for example)
10) In Warner Bros., Bugs Bunny's rabbit hole can be opened at will and takes hi m to strange places (i.e., a genie's treasure, a mad scientist's laboratory). In DS9, the wormhole can be opened and takes the characters to strange places (i.e ., the Gamma Quadrant, the Mirror Mirror universe).
11) Bugs Bunny likes carrot juice. Worf likes prune juice.
12) Daffy Duck's beak can be moved to any part of his body. Odo can generate a beak in any part of his body.
13) Sylvester can never catch that darn Tweety Bird. O'Brien can never catch those darn voles.
14) When introduced, some people thought Daffy Duck was a cheap knock-off of Don ald Duck because of superficial similarities. When DS9 was introduced, some people thought DS9 was a cheap knock-off of B5 because of superficial similarities.

I think someone should call Warner Bros's attorneys and have them write a nasty letter to Paramount. It's obvious that Star Trek's writers are shalemessly plagiarizing Warner Bros. cartoons!

It's almost as glaring as Voyager's shameless stealing from the sitcom Cheers...

To which Eric continues:

(15) The Ferengi are short and bald. Elmer Fudd is short and bald.
(16) Daffy Duck portrayed Duck Dodgers in the 24 & 1/2th Centrury. The TNG/DS9/VOY timeline is in about the midde of the 24th century.
(17) Bugs Bunny has long, pointed ears. The Vorta have long, pointed ears.
(18) Daffy Duck's speech is somewhat slurred. Klingons' and Ferengis' speech is somewhat slurred.
(19) "Kill the Wabbit" and "The Rabbit of Seville" featured opera music. Both Worf and Voyager's Doctor have sung opera music.
(20) The Federation constantly trys to put a stop to Maquis activity in the Badlands. Wiley E. Coyote constantly tries to put a stop to Roadrunner activity in the badlands.

Mark, you are absolutely correct. This is much more than coincidence....
