My Interests

(and other diversions destined to drain the money from my pockets)

Computers (but of course!)

I've been using computers ever since I received a TRS-80 Color Computer as a Christmas gift many years ago. I've since moved up to something more powerful (Athlon 700MHz). On the business side of things, I am employed as a software developer for a major telecommunications corporation. I am currently involved in a large web-based project that utilizes Java and C++, among other things. I'm more of a UNIX person than an Windows person, and I currently prefer to use the Mandrake Linux distribution on my home system.

Motorcycles

I ride a 1996 Honda Shadow VLX deluxe. Unless there is snow or ice on the roads, I ride all year long. I am a member of the Honda Riders Club. For more information on Honda motorcycles, visit the Honda Motorcycle Web Page.

Paintball

I enjoy an occassional game of paintball. My marker is a Tippmann Pro-Lite (pictured). I have played at "Top Gun", located in Jackson, New Jersey, and with a group at a field in Manville, NJ. For more information on the sport of paintball, visit the Warpig Paintball Page.

Inline Skating

I started inline skating during the summer of 1992. I'm still using the original pair of Rollerblade Lightning skates that I bought back then. The stock axle/spacer system has been replaced with threaded spacers -- I highly recommend this upgrade.

Cruising

My favorite way to vacation is to go on a cruise. I've been on three cruises -- two to the Eastern Caribbean and one to the Western Caribbean -- and I am definately planning on going again. Most likely, my next cruise destination will be Alaska. The ship pictured is the Carnival Destiny (which I was on for the Western Caribbean cruise).

Amateur Radio

Amateur radio could probably be described as a minor interest to me at the moment. I hold an Extra class license, callsign WQ3S. My rig is a Heathkit 80m - 10m SSB/CW transceiver, but I haven't used it since I moved into an apartment (and later into a house) in New Jersey. I still do tune in to listen now and then, but I haven't set up an antenna suitable for transmitting yet. While attending college, I was a member of the Penn State Amateur Radio Club, and transmitted from their station (K3CR). One of these days I'll cook something up and get back on the air.
